    2. Life sentence confirmed for child rapist

    3. The Supreme Court of Korea on Thursday upheld the life sentence for Kim Kil-tae, 34, on charges of kidnapping, raping and killing a 13-year-old middle school student. He was first sentenced to death in June last year, but the court commuted his sentence to life imprisonment in Dec. However, majority of the people in the society are complaining on this commuted sentence policy because they argue that a person like Kim must be sentenced to death, not imprisonment. The court commuted the sentence to life imprisonment because the court thought that Kim didn’t do it on purpose that it was not premeditated. But, this cannot fully explain why and convince people that life imprisonment is ‘enough’ for Kim. It could be good for Kim himself to have a life imprisonment to meditate and even repent his sin. Nevertheless, there will be many other ‘Kim’s committing the similar crimes again and again because the most terrible punishment is not a death penalty. Actually, it is not about killing people who have committed serious crimes in our society. The government needs to change the laws to ‘reduce’ those kinds of crimes. There has to be a turning point for this crime punishment to make a safe society and remove those crime-related conflicts within the society.

4.Kim was prosecuted in February last year for murdering the girl who was alone in her home in the southern port city of Busan. The criminal was also charged with abducting and raping a woman who was walking on the street recently

    2. political inequality
    3. in korean, the current president Lee Myung-bak has misused his power to appoint his cronies to important roles in the state enterprises and try to use the name of “the pension funds role “to reduce the chaebols control in business with the reason that they have not provide the bebefits to the presidency as they were surpposed.it is obvious that in the society people who have the political resources then can do what they want to do ,while others who donot have can just be the victims and be used even in the so-called democratic society, which is famous for the the legislation and transparency.as the stronger authority has controled the political resouces ,even there are so many unequal things happened ,what the others can do is just to edure it with no choices.
    4. President Lee has put his cronies at the top posts of state enterprises and even large banks, in which the government has not a single share, technically at least. If the NPS’s shareholder activism is misused as a weapon of political power to reign over private businesses, Koreans would find it hard to discern which is the bigger evil.

    2. Shilla Hotel bans hanbok
    3. The Shilla Seoul banned a hanbok-clad customer from entering its restaurant, the Park View. They said hanbok is a dangerous clothing. In other words, you can't wear korean traditional clothes, there's a dress code, you have to wear western-style clothes. It seems that they are considering Hanbok as a lower level than western style clothes. If hanbok was dangerous why do the mothers in Korea wear Hanbok at the wedding? I'm pretty sure that at most of koreans, after the wedding they go to a buffet to eat. I haven't heard any other buffets where they ban Korean traditional costume. The most shocking news is that this happened at Shilla Hotel, not a hotel of a foreign country but this took place at a well known Korean hotel. Yet, maybe this tells us that as Korea became westernized many people started to consider the western as the 'better'. However, let's hope that there are no more similar discriminations on traditional issues out there.

    4. The controversy sparked when well-known hanbok designer Lee Hye-sun of Damyeon was reportedly banned from entering the Park View on Tuesday evening by a restaurant staff, who is reported to have said the Korean traditional costume was “dangerous” clothing and can “get in the way” of other people, according to local news reports and Twitter feeds.

    2. Royal wedding why the world cares?
    3. Prince William got married to Kate Middleton who is a is daughter of former airline workers made good is not of noble blood and, hence, considered a ‘commoner’ in the British tradition of class distinction. I'm not against the nobility society but I was wondering why people were making a fuss about the royal wedding. Royal Weddings have always been popular. The wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana became a global media sensation in 1981. Many people say Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding is a ‘Cinderella story’ because Kate Middleton’s status has moved up. This kind of Cinderella story shows that anybody who is very lucky could become a royal family. It's bit funny because we are living at the 21st century but still there is class stratification exists like royalty, nobility and the humble classes in England. I think England is uncivilized society. In the mature society class stratifications like these doesn’t exist. There is no status movement like this. Although royal families doesn’t have a power like in the past and they are helpful to the society, their exist tells us there is a class stratification still exists.

    4. Prince William and Kate Middleton exchanged vows at Westminster Abbey on Friday in a wedding service watched by a global audience of two billion. The wedding began with huge crowds and the global TV audience watching Britain's biggest royal celebration for three decades..
It is the richest display of pageantry since William's late mother Diana married Prince Charles in 1981 and offers Britain's royal family a chance at renewal after Charles and Diana's bitterly public split.

    3. A new survey offers some other clues on how to know if you are rich.

(1)–Money is no obstacle. More than half (56%) said they considered themselves wealthy when they could buy anything without money concerns.

(2)–The Magic Number. A little more than a third of the millionaires say they became wealthy when they hit a certain number. A quarter of the respondents said it was $1 million to $2 million saved, while another quarter said it said it was $2 to $4 million. Only 15% said they needed $5 million to $10 million and 4% said they needed more than $10 million. (They must all live in New York City).

(3)–Pursue their passion. Ok, so not everyone can become lemur rescuers or deep-ocean submarine explorers, but 14% of mere millionaires say the ability to pursue an interest or passion is a sign they are wealthy. Of that group, most say they plan to travel or “have fun.”

(4)–You tell friends “Have Your Family Office Call Mine!” Of course, if you have a family office, you probably have more than $100 million, in which case you probably already know you are rich.

(5)–You think a salary of $1.6 million a year is “not a lot of money.”

    4. Not long ago, I heard that Reading hour related to social status in literary criticism class. In fact Our society has many Stände in stratified boundary. In article, I impressed No.3 'Pursue their passion'. It is truly suitable for explaing specific Generation, 20s in Korea. An article released 'Everyone can become lemur rescuers or deep-ocean submarine explorers.' Running after rich and success, Korean 20s lost their Have fun. But it seem to be unrealizable in many people.

    2. The Chinese university students that you cannot hurt
    3. Recently, one sentence in China is very popular------the Chinese university students that you cannot hurt------because of the “Yao jiaxin” incident. Yao jiaxin is a normal Chinese university in Xi`an music college, who made a car butt, stabbed the victim eight knives, causing the victim death, and then escaped from accident on October 20th 2010. Last week Xi`an immediate People`s Court sentenced him Intentional homicide, death, deprived of political rights for life, making a heat discussion among Chinese people.
    4. It reminded people of the accident “My father is Li Gang” in 2010. It also happened in Chinese students who made a car butt and escaped, saying that my father is Li Gang. At the same time, there were also a famous professor in Beijing normal university said to his students:“If you cannot earn 400 million(RMB) , please don`t come here and see me 10 years later”. All of these things make Chinese people think about the problems in Chinese university education system, especially moral education and social responsibility.
    5. However, what`s the problem in Chinese university?
First of all, it`s an reaction of current Chinese university stuednts` moral condition and ideology condition, which effected by the ugly society. Not only in the society, but also in the university, people pay less and less attention about moral problems or the educator tries to use all kinds of method to educate but they failed in some field.
Secondly, it`s also a reaction of Chinese university system. To some degree, the high education system exist too much official standard. For example, the normal professors who only do research and not do it very well are as respected as the professors who also do the administrative things.
What`s more, it`s also an reaction of Chinese society, and the shorts of social values and responsibilities. Some people asked: why recent Chinese university students are so positive to participate the official test, but not create wealth?
There is not doubt that the high education in China achieved a lot recently in terms of the cultivation of all kinds of talents and the development of Chinese economic. However, the problems should also be concerned by the whole society, otherwise, it may lead to many bad effect.

    2. China’s Race with the Gender Gap

    3. The good news: China’s gender gap is shrinking. The bad news: It may not be shrinking fast enough. … The new numbers can be explained partly by government efforts to fight sex-selective abortion, which, as the state-run Global Times noted in a report last year, became something of an epidemic after China introduced the one-child policy in 1980. … That means China’s missing girl, or extra men, problem is likely to have a major effect on the size of China’s population above and beyond the one-child policy. … As the numbers suggest, fixing the gap—and fast—is not just a matter of fairness, but of future economic growth.

    --------------------------------------------

    4. I think it is stupid to boast a cultural preference for boys. I know that cultures and traditions are important, but there are bigger problems that they are overlooking. They should see the bigger picture. Otherwise, China’s future economic development could be influenced in a negative way. I think having 34 million extra men is nothing to be proud of because it means that there are 34 million men without wives. It is so dilemmatic because there are missing 34 million women to marry and produce the children of those extra men. I believe balance is the most important when it comes to population, and I think it is even more important than traditions when it’s about population. I totally agree with the article that to solve this problem, leaders should find ways to raise the value of women in Chinese society. I think it is the only way to solve this problem. It is nice that the Chinese government is trying to adopt more gender equality programs, but I feel sorry that fixing the gap is moving too slowly. Even though the Chinese government put efforts to fight sex-selective abortion and rejected proposals to criminalize elective abortion of female babies, there are already too many extra men that it would take a very long time to make up the missing number of women.

    2. Pirates hijack Singaporean tanker with 4 S. Koreans off Kenya
    3. In recently there are many hijackings by pirates. They demand money for hostages who they kidnapped. This time somalins hijacked 4 Koreans with ships that are passing Kenya. Before this hijacking , Korean government dispatched navy for sweep them. Nevertheless somlian pirates kidnapped again because hijacking is the only way to earn money enough in somalia. In fact pirates are the most repectable occupation because of money. Their poor level of life made international conflicts. This time government said that we can't rescue by power of navy and the only way to rescue them is negotiating which demand money. The problem is that if we rescue hostages like this way, there must be more and more hijackings. By this reason we have to clear pirates but this is not that easy thing to do so this homework for us to solve.

importance of affection between parents and children

    ----------------------------------------
In the history, there are servaral factors to divide social class as richs and poors. For example, the land is the factor to divide social status in the Middle Ages. In these day, the money seems the factor. Some people say that if you hava a lot of money, you can make anything. What makes? What makes for?? What the man who have a lot of money can make something, if the man is not respected even by his or her family. Even this society is called capitalistic society, I beileve that we have to respect and prevent the basic value such as family thing.
